Emily Sylvester grew up in Churchville, New York. After high school, she went on to receive her Bachelor of Science in Vocal Music Education with a minor in Global Studies in May 2024 from Roberts Wesleyan University. During her time at Churchville, she studied voice at Eastman Community School of Music under the instruction of Patricia Alexander and she was heavily involved in their theater department. Her roles included Belle (Beauty and the Beast), Maggie (42nd Street), Carlotta (Phantom of the Opera), and Shrek (Fairy Godmother/Featured Dancer). Emily was a part of the Stars of Tomorrow program where she won Best Supporting Actress in 2018 for her role as Carlotta. She then went on to compete in the JIMMY Award nominee competition.

During her time at Roberts, she participated in their operas/opera workshop class where she played the role of Fiordiliji (Cosi fan tutte) and Belinda (Dido and Aeneas) and studied voice under the instruction of Constance Fee. After graduation, she participated in the Austrian-American Mozart Academy in Salzburg, Austria where she played the role of Vitellia in Mozart’s La Clemenza di Tito in 2024 and the role of Pamina in Mozart’s The Magic Flute in 2025,, and participating in the Berlin Opera Academy as Suor Angelica in Puccini’s Suor angelica in August 2026.

Currently, Emily is the Jr/Senior Vocal Music teacher at Byron-Bergen Central School District. She has also previously worked as the Children’s Choir Vocal Director for Roberts Wesleyan Community Theater for their production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Hunchback of Notre Dame (Gypsy/Congregation) and worked as an adjudicator for the Stars of Tomorrow program through Rochester Broadway Theater League.

On top of working in the Rochester community, Emily also regularly attends various competitions. Some of which include London Classical International Competition (2nd Place), New York International (2nd Place), Charleston International (2nd Place), National Association of Teachers District Competition (1st Place), National Association of Teachers Singing Eastern Regional Competition (2nd Place/National Qualifier) and many more.
